Yesterday, AQSIQ's Defective Product Management Center issued a total of 4 recall announcements for domestic passenger cars, involving a total of 18,637 vehicles.
Among them, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. released two recall announcements involving Lincoln brand cars:
(1) The 17,912 Lincoln MKZ series cars have safety concerns because the steering wheel fixing bolts have insufficient tightening torque and the steering wheel is loosened from the steering shaft. In response, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. will replace the steering wheel bolts in the recalled vehicles to eliminate potential safety hazards. This is also the largest number of cars involved in the four recalls, accounting for 96% of the total.
(2) For 47 Lincoln MKZ series vehicles, due to supplier's production, the automatic transmission torque converter stud welding was improper. The stud may break, and the torque converter is disengaged from the engine flywheel. As a result, the vehicle suddenly loses power without warning during the driving process, increasing the risk of vehicle collision and causing potential safety hazards. In response, Ford Motor (China) Co., Ltd. will replace the qualified torque converter for the vehicles within the recalled area free of charge to eliminate defects. Inventory vehicles will be sold after eliminating defects.
In addition, because the airbags in front of the driver's seat of the vehicle are equipped with a gas generator produced by Takata Corporation without ammonium desulfurizer. When the airbag is deployed, the gas generator may be damaged, causing metal fragments to fly out, which may injure the people in the vehicle and present potential safety hazards.
The Japanese brands Mitsubishi and Subaru also each issued a recall announcement and recalled 254 cars and 424 cars respectively.
