According to the data released by the Turkish Automobile Manufacturers Association recently, in August this year, car sales in Turkey fell slightly year-on-year to 60,871 vehicles, a decrease of 0.8% compared with 61,378 units in the same period last year.
In contrast, passenger car sales in Turkey in August increased by 6.1% from the same period last year to 41,236 units.
From January to August this year, the total sales of cars in Turkey was 485,611 units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.3%, compared with 573,108 units sold in the same period last year.
The Turkish Automobile Manufacturers Association predicts that Turkey's total vehicle sales for the year 2012 will reach 823,370 vehicles, a decrease of 13.2% compared to 948,629 units for the full year of 2011.
